I Don’t Use Sunscreen. Here’s Why and What I Do Instead

Updated: Jun 28, 2025

I Don’t Use Sunscreen
I Don’t Use Sunscreen

This surprises people. But for the last few years, I stopped using sunscreen — and my skin looks better than ever. Here’s why:

Why I Don’t Use Sunscreen

  1. Many sunscreens contain hormone-disrupting chemicals

  2. Blocking all UV disrupts Vitamin D production — critical for longevity, hormones, and mood

  3. False security = overexposure to sun at bad times

  4. My skin actually got more resilient without it

What I Do Instead:

Internal Protection

  1. Astaxanthin (natural antioxidant, SPF from within)

  2. Polyphenols from berries, green tea

  3. Healthy fats (avocados, omega-3s) support skin resilience

Smart Exposure

  1. Build up sun tolerance gradually

  2. Get sun before 10 AM or after 4 PM

  3. Avoid long exposure at solar noon

Cover Up

  1. Wear a light shirt or wide-brim hat when needed

  2. Stay in the shade after 20–30 minutes

I still respect the sun. But I work with it, not against it.
